WHAT IS AN AURA?
This is how we define AURA:
YOUR AURA IS YOUR OWN UNIQUE LIFE ENERGY.
It is something you can sense, within yourself (interoceptively) and also in others (via empathic subprocesses).
We can describe this energy with colors, emotions, a vast array of adjectives + nouns, archetypes/personalities, even music.
And you can use any nomenclature you like — from the scientific, to the esoteric, to the “woo woo.” We like both aura and the simple-but-broad-in-scope energy.
How Homer, Paracelsus, Mencius, + Dictionaries Define Aura
Homer is credited as having defined the aura as “a luminous nebula derived from the divine essence.”
Paracelsus (1493-1541), Swiss alchemist, astrologer, and physician, described it as the power which “radiates with and around living beings like a luminous sphere.”
During the 5th century BCE, Ancient Chinese philosophers developed the concept of qi — life force. Mencius believed in a type of qi that was specific to the individual — a person’s vital energy.
The aura has also been described as "the light force of the soul, human energy around the physical body," "an energy field that is held to emanate from a living being" (Merriam-Webster), and "the distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person" (Oxford Dictionary).
Whatever you decide to call your personal energy is up to you.
The fact remains that it exists.
And it is yours to take care of, share as you see fit, respect, and protect.
